Compulsive Listmaker

We are currently in Week 3 and I am starting to feel the pressure once again. There is one solution for this stress- LISTS!

Making lists of all I need to do for the week not only helps me to calm down (yes I know) but it allows me to see completely what needs to be done and just how much work I have to do. I have gone back to Wunderlist to list-ify my life once again. Its easy to use, I can get the app on my phone, set reminders, mark important deadlines (even recurring ones), make sub-lists, create links, and add files. It has everything I need to manage my lists, and lists of lists, and lists of lists of lists (they do exist).

Making lists of all the things I need to do for class this week.

When I create my lists, I also add things that I've already completed, just for the satisfaction of ticking it off I guess.

Its great for planning assignments because you can upload document of the assignment question, add another with your notes if you want to, and store links from resources you found online. You can add other people to a specific list as well so it also works for group assignments.

Now that I've made my list and checked it twice I can go through it and complete all the tasks. So I'm off.

See you around campus...

Preparing for semester 2. Again

I've organized my courses before, back when I just started year two. Now at the beginning of the second semester of year three, I need to revisit my plan. I've spent the last six hours making PERT diagrams, listing courses and their prerequisites, marking ones I've already done, marking the semesters they are offered, and weighing the workload of a particular course. At the end of it all, I'm happy to say I can still finish university on time, hopefully with what's left of sanity still in tact.

I have everything listed in an Excel document and colour-coded according to semester. I've marked in red, the prerequisite that are still outstanding. Now I can finally chooses for my courses for this semester without worrying about whether I'll have done enough of the prerequisite courses to .
To be sure I have updated information I had to split my screen between my excel page and the university site. And to stay awake and have some amount of entertainment, I'm watching Leigh-Ann's weekend vlogs. This girl is awesome.

My Excel sheet, University course guide, and watching Leighannsays. Multi-tasking at its best!

The final product. Its good to have a plan (If you follow it!).

Week 2-get a grip

I'm still tying to get a grip on studying while constantly moving from house to house. Because of the constant movement I haven't really made a timetable although I probably should.
Still, I'm behind by just one week. Its the first week so there's not much to 'catch up' on.  I've been up since 3:00 am so I'm working on going through the orientation and starting the readings for week two.
I don't travel with my laptop so I've been using my cell phone to read my course notes from One Drive. It works well enough but it is a cell phone so the screen is small, which means I'm constantly scrolling as I read. That sound like no big deal but it gets old fast.

I have the pone on my cell tripod with my notebook and a pen. I wanted to print all my notes but I am in no way prepared to spend a small fortune on printing so I have stuck with digital works and a notebook for..., well, notes.

Here's my set up for now

I have my cell phone, notebook and pen on our trusty old desk.

Semester 2 Begins

Hello hello lovely people!

I hope you all had a great holiday and started 2013 with a bang.

I went into the country for the holiday and spent most of the time at my father's house. It was really fun. All the kids and grandkids were there and a few of us went trekking in the farm. Now if you're thinking about a farm on a plain, you're way off. My dad's farms are in the hills and some serious hiking needed to be done.

I'm settling in for this semester. I went out to register yesterday and ended up going shopping with a few of my on-campus friends, which was fun.

Registration went smoothly (using the bank on campus was a big help). I got all my texts and software.

I passed all my courses last semester but I plan on doing much better this time round.

My second semester of university begins...
